Ibn Sinan, from Abu Basir, from Abu Abd Allah (AS), who said: There were born to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, from Khadija: al-Qasim and Abd Allah, who is [also called] al-Tahir; and Zaynab, Ruqayya, Umm Kulthum and Fatima (peace be upon her). And from Mariya the Copt — whom al-Muqawqis, the ruler of Alexandria, presented as a gift to the Prophet, may God bless him and his family — Ibrahim. As for Ruqayya, she was married to (Utba ibn Abi Lahab, and he died, leaving her. And as for Zaynab, she was married to) Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi', and she bore him a daughter whom he named Umama, whom the Commander of the Faithful (AS) married after the death of Fatima, God's blessings be upon her. (Tarikh Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 1, p. 91)
Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said: From the marriage of the Messenger of God (PBUH) with Khadija there were two sons, named al-Qasim and al-Tahir, and four daughters, named Zaynab, Ruqayya, Umm Kulthum and Fatima. He also had, from Mariya the Copt in Medina, a son named Ibrahim. The sons all died in infancy. Ruqayya and Umm Kulthum were at first the wives of two sons of Abu Lahab, who, after the commencement of the Prophet's mission, both divorced them together. Later Uthman married Ruqayya, and after her death, in the second year of the Hijra, Umm Kulthum; and Umm Kulthum too passed away in the ninth year of the Hijra. Zaynab, who was the eldest daughter of the Messenger of God (PBUH), did not at first believe; and when her husband Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi' was taken captive by the Muslims at Badr, she sent her jewellery to her father, the Messenger of God (PBUH), and ransomed her husband. Later both Zaynab and her husband came to believe. From these two were born a son named Ali and a daughter named Umama. After Zahra al-Marziyya (peace be upon her), Ali (AS) took this Umama, who was the Prophet's (PBUH) granddaughter, as his wife, and by her had two sons named Hilal and Awn. After the martyrdom of Ali (AS), Umama married al-Mughira ibn Nawfal.
