It is related from the Commander of the Faithful, the blessings of God be upon him, that he said: The night of Friday is a radiant night and its day is a luminous day. Whoever dies on the night of Friday, God writes for him immunity from the pressure of the grave, and whoever dies on the day of Friday, God writes for him immunity from the Fire. (al-Muqni'a, vol. 1, p. 154)
The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said: The night of Friday is Laylat al-Gharra (the radiant night) and its day is Yawm al-Azhar (the luminous day). Whoever passes away on the night of Friday, God exempts him from the pressure of the grave, and whoever dies on the day of Friday, God in a certain respect exempts him from the Fire.
(We say: the expressions "Laylat al-Gharra" and "Yawm al-Azhar" cannot be translated, because they are not descriptions but point to an external reality, and until they are experienced inwardly, their meaning does not become clear to a person. Whenever someone, without paying attention to the days of the week or the calendar, becomes aware that he is in the night of Friday, the groundwork for perceiving Laylat al-Gharra — which is the Laylat al-Qadr of the week — has been prepared for him.)
It is related from our master the Commander of the Faithful, the blessings of God be upon him, that he said: A prayer in the greatest mosque equals a hundred prayers. (al-Muqni'a, vol. 1, p. 159)
The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said: Prayer in the greatest (congregational) mosque of a city is counted a hundredfold.
It is related of the Commander of the Faithful (AS) that he prayed the eclipse prayer in Kufa and recited in it the suras al-Kahf and al-Anbiya, repeating them five times, and he prolonged its bowing until sweat ran down onto the feet of those who were with him, and many of them fainted. (al-Muqni'a, vol. 1, p. 210)
In the time of the Commander of the Faithful (AS) a solar eclipse occurred in Kufa. So he led the people in the prayer of the signs (salat al-ayat). In the first rak'a he recited sura al-Kahf five times and in the second rak'a sura al-Anbiya five times, and he made the bowings so long that sweat streamed down onto the people's feet, and many of them became faint or lost consciousness.
The Commander of the Faithful, the blessings and peace of God be upon him and his family, said: The Messenger of God (PBUH) said: Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan out of faith and in hope of reward, and restrains his hearing, his sight, and his tongue from the people, God accepts his fast and forgives his past and future sins and grants him the reward of the patient. (al-Muqni'a, vol. 1, p. 305)
The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said: The Messenger of God (PBUH) used to say: Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan out of faith and ihtisab (in hope of God's reward) and guards his eyes, ears, and tongue — God accepts his fast, forgives his past and future sins, and grants him the reward of the patient.
The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said: The month of Ramadan is the month of God, Sha'ban is the month of the Messenger of God (PBUH), and Rajab is my month. (al-Muqni'a, vol. 1, p. 373)
The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said: Ramadan is the month of God, Sha'ban is the month of the Messenger of God, and Rajab is my month.
He used to say: O company of merchants! Avoid five things: the seller's self-praise, the disparaging of the buyer, swearing oaths over the sale, and the concealment of defects. (al-Muqni'a, vol. 1, p. 591)
The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said: In trade, beware of praising the seller, belittling the buyer, swearing oaths, and concealing the defects of the goods.
