Al-Adab al-Diniyya

The Commander of the Faithful (AS) said in his counsel to his son Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya: If you are able not to give the woman charge of what goes beyond her own affairs, then do so, for that is more lasting for her beauty, more soothing for her mind, and better for her condition. For the woman is a fragrant flower, not a steward of affairs; so treat her gently in every circumstance and keep good company with her, that your life may become serene. (al-Adab al-Diniyya lil-Khazana al-Mu'iniyya, vol. 1, p. 113)

The Commander of the Faithful (AS), in his counsel to his son Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya, said: As far as you can, do not give a woman charge beyond her own affairs!

So that her beauty remains preserved, her mind is at ease, and her state is good. Woman was not created for the stewardship of affairs; rather, she is like a delicate flowering branch. In any case, be gentle with her and treat her well, so that your life becomes pleasant.
